iPhone 5 Release Date: 4″ iPhone Screen, Rumored Specs, iOS 6 Release Date, WWDC & Concept Photos

With the wildly popular World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) coming in June – only weeks away – the Apple rumor mill is heating up. And with multiple leaked reports confirming a larger iPhone screen, all eyes will be on Apple [NASDAQ: AAPL]. And with WWDC only weeks away the rumor mills surrounding the iPhone 5 release date and iOS 6 sepcs have been rampant. The biggest news from Apple is that it appears that the iOS 6 release date will be aligned with Apple’s WWDC and that you should expect to see an iPhone 5 release date this fall.
Here are the latest in iPhone rumors including what we’ve heard about the iPhone5 release date, larger iPhone screen and the upcoming World Wide Developers Conference.
iPhone 5 Release Date
Even with multiple conflicting reports, we are rather certain that the iPhone 5 will be released this fall. Now that could be either September or October. Even though Apple has unveiled iPhone’s at previous WWDC events, the iPhone 5 will not be unveiled at WWDC this year. Apple broke their cycle of announcing new iPhones in June last year when they announced the iPhone 4S in the fall. Unveiling iOS 6 in June also hints at a definite fall release of the iPhone 5 which will of course be running iOS 6.
iPhone 5 Potential Specs
We’ll start with the most anticipated feature – A MUCH LARGER SCREEN – which has been on everyone’s mind since the release of the second generation iPhone. According to the WSJ, “The new screens measure at least 4 inches diagonally, the people said, compared with 3.5 inches on Apple’s latest model, the iPhone 4S. Production is set to begin next month, the people said. Analysts have predicted that the next iPhone will come out in the fall.”
Here are some pretty killer photos of what the next iPhone could look like, thanks to Mashable.
Ok, back to specs. And the first thing to consider with a larger iPhone screen is the affect on the developer market. When the iPad 3 came out, Apple made developers create entirely new apps in order to fit the new screen resolution. However, Apple has so much control over the market, that they can do this, unfortunately.
Next is 4G LTE compatibility for the iPhone5. Apple is currently late to the game with this as most Android phones are already using the 4G network. Third, a quad core processor and upgraded chipset. Next, is the potential of a 3D camera for the iPhone. Last but not least is the introduction of a “LiquidMetal” casing which would allow for a stronger and unique casing. Check out the report below. In addition to a few new specs, you can expect to see an updated operating system aka iOS 6. Here are some rumors surrounding the iOS 6 release date.
Aside from the above iPhone spec rumors, here is a recent report offering some detail into the new iPhone size, screen and a new connector. From ilounge:
What we’ve learned: the new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S. Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm—a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width. According to our source, Apple will make one major change to the rear casing, adding a metal panel to the central back of the new iPhone. This panel will be flat, not curved, and metal, not ceramic. Our artist’s rendition provides a rough idea of what this change will look like; it echoes the current-generation iMac design, to be sure.
iPhone 5 Concept
iPhone 5 Concepts are a dime a dozen, but this video mockup from Aatma Studios is pretty cool.  Regardless of which concepts are actually applied to the iPhone 5 (if any) the video is pretty creative.
